Nelson Island restoration still ongoing
Nelson Island, one of the most important historical sites in Trinidad and Tobago continues to undergo restoration and upgrading of its facilities. When completed, it will serve as a multi-purpose educational and recreational site with a museum type display of artifacts of the various waves of immigration, reconstruction of activities and exhibits on the ecology of the islands and the Gulf of Paria.

Smaller crowds, less mas in Sando Carnival
Apart from the barriers preventing vehicles from entering the main streets in San Fernando, and the heavy police presence, the usual pomp and splendour that usually comes with the Parade of Bands on Carnival Tuesday was not seen on the streets of San Fernando yesterday

Tourism Ministry ends sponsorship

Exhibition on pan research now on at National Museum and Art Gallery
A multi-media exhibition of Dr. Kim Johnson’s steel pan research entitled “The Audacity of the Creole Imagination” was officially launched at the National Museum at number 117 Frederick Street, Port of Spain last Friday evening. Those in attendance included a small, but vibrant number of pan and art enthusiasts, who were treated to some classic songs by 2009 National Panorama champions, PCS Silver Stars.

Honours for Carnival pioneers
Downtown Carnival will officially launch on Thursday, Port-of-Spain Mayor Murchison Brown announced at the Port-of-Spain City Hall yesterday. Carib Brewery is the main sponsor this year. Brown said the street parade that usually precedes the official launch will start on upper Frederick Street, in the vicinity of Memorial Park, then makes its way to City Hall.
